Last week at OVS was very busy and made quite an impact on our students, staff and families.  Teddy Anderson came to the school to teach the students about Hoop Dancing.  All of our classes were able to spend a great deal of time with Teddy and Mr. Scott in the gym making their own hoops and learning a class routine.  The kids were so taken with the project that many were practicing every recess.  On Friday, our families joined us for the final performance.  I don't think I have ever seen such a full gym.  Your support is phenomenal.

Oakville School, MB honoured me today. 5 days of hoop making, dancing and performing... those students impressed me. I lay my heart out to the students I perform for and I share with them my hardships and the things I have struggled with growing up in dangerous countries. But more importantly I give them hope and how to use that hope to better the world.
One student commented:
"I learned how important it to never give up even if it is hard."
...
These students are respectful, kind and generous. They followed protocol and honoured themselves by striving for excellence. I am so proud of each of them and they have a lot to be proud of as a community.
I asked the principal if there is anything I should change and he said "no... it was flawless." A teacher said to me..."you have opened my mind and my heart to many of the teachings you carry. Keep doing what you do and the world will be better for it."
In a world full of chaos, pain and frustrated there are lots of hearts out there that carry these things. When I dance... when I teach... when I educate... I do so to bring HEALING. PEACE. LOVE.
These students also showed me their ability to be patient and kind with others. When a student got a move and saw someone struggling they would take off their hoops and go over them to help. This didn't happen once or twice but many many times! The future is bright and hopeful with these students as our future leaders.

Teddy's book is available for purchase on his website.
