New sites added to the blog

New sites and favourite links have been added to the blog.  Check out the tabs.  Scroll through all of the links as there are great ones all throughout the pages.  Check out our Learn at Home tab.  There are many resources there to support our students and families while they are not in school.

Google - all PLPSD students have access to their own individual google account.  

Overdrive - all PLPSD students have access to Overdrive books with their school Google accounts at no cost.

OverDrive - Digital School Library - Easy Access Sheet
 
● Go to https://manitobaconca.libraryreserve.com
● Select Portage la Prairie from the drop down menu.
● Use your computer log-in account (firstname.lastname)
○ Password will be the same as at school - talk to your teacher if you need to reset your password
● Use the search bar to find a book that you want.
○ You can search by title, grade level, or reading level.
Access either by computer or by mobile app on your phone or tablet
 
How to Sign Out a Book
Books can be a digital book, or audio book. A black symbol means the book is available, grey means it is unavailable.
Click the red BORROW button to sign the book out. 
Then go to your checkouts page, and you can download the book, or read it on your browser. 
Books are borrowed for 14 days, this can be changed in settings.
You have a limit of 3 books out at once.
Return books from the checkouts page by clicking RETURN TITLE. 
Books are automatically returned after 14 days.

Some of this blog's recommended sites require subscriptions but have a free trial period.  Do not feel pressured to purchase a subscription, there are many free resources available.
